Demonetize/Eliminate Rs. 2,000 Notes - Wish #3

June 8th 2019 - PMOPG/E/2019/0295655

Subject: Demonetize/Eliminate Rs 2,000 Notes

Dear Respected Prime Minister Modi:

Regardless of what people may say, demonetization was a good thing. True it could have been implemented better, but that is hind sight. Bharatvasis are an innovative bunch and many found ways to get around getting caught with Black Money. Some with the help of cooperative bank managers. But from what has been reported, many have been caught.

At this time please withdraw or demonetize Rs. 2000 notes. They are a nuisance. Those who have bank accounts can pay large amounts either using Debit or Credit cards or via on-line bank transfer or by check. And those who do not have bank accounts typically have cash assets that can be served by Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes.

Addressing Corruption - Wish #2

June 5th 2019 - PMOPG/E/2019/0285383

Subject: Addressing Corruption

Dear Respected Prime Minister Modi:

Corruption is a multi headed beast. We cut one head and another takes its place. It is a big task to chop off all its heads in one stroke. Curbing corruption will require legislation, judicial reforms, and transparent processes. It is like this. If a batsman is trained to play cricket with a tennis ball and then made to face a hard ball, without proper protection, he will get hurt. Liberalization changed the game without proper protection to avoid corruption. As a result, the economy boomed and so did corruption.

There are vested interests and insecurities that want status quo. The fear is that any changes made to the current system will affect them. One solution is to allow Jo Hua, So Hua, and let the milk already spilled be mopped up using the current system, governed by existing laws. The goal is to institute preventive measures to reduce corruption and make anti-corruption legislation effective from a particular date onward. The message is simply, those who dipped into the cookie jar, will be pursued as before. However, those caught stealing from the cookie jar henceforth will be dealt with severely and expeditiously.

Anti-corruption measures should enforce transparency in the RFP process, the bidding and awarding process and in the Execution and Delivery Process. This should be accompanied by laws that impose punishment that is proportionate to the severity of the corruption. Special courts with adequate number of Judges should be appointed to resolve these cases expeditiously.

Rajan Shastri

Message for the Sangh Parivar - Wish #1

June 5th 2019 - PMOPG/E/2019/0285300

Subject: Message for the Sangh Parivar

Dear Respected Prime Minister Modi:

In 2014 the citizens exercised choice. They were fed up with the corruption of UPA. In 2019 the citizens have given you a mandate.
Congratulations!

This is a sincere request that you address the Sangh Parivar, namely the RSS, the Bajrang Dal to make Bharat proud in the eyes of the skeptics and the World. The following is what you could say to them:

Collectively, you are the world's largest volunteer army. This is a matter of pride. But you must walk the path of Dharma and refrain from violence. By all means, protect yourselves and defend if you are attacked, but do not provoke. If you see a law being broken, then do a citizen's arrest. Call the police and let them deal with the situation. Do not take the law into your own hands. You are the backbone of our country. Don't let your actions spoil the name of our wonderful country. When your actions are consistent with Dharma, no one can question you. Become Brand Ambassadors of Dharma. Make sure your actions are consistent with the principles of Dharma. Dharma is applicable to everybody, regardless of one's religion. Discipline, Dharma along with Dedication form some of your core values.

Please follow up with a letter to each member.

Regards,

Rajan Shastri

On Dependence Day

Dear Subservient Servant of India,

We fools just celebrated Dependence Day! We traded one set of rulers for another self appointed set who collectively think they own this country under the pretext that "Parliament is Supreme". Yes, but Parliamentarians are SERVANTS of the CITIZENS, and should be subject to more scrutiny and not be exempt and immune from oversight and prosecution!

As a person, I have great respect for you, for in your heart and soul you love our country and you are an honourable person. However, the office that you occupy and the role that you play has been diminished and tarnished by the people manipulating it.

I regret having to address you this way for I have lost all respect for the Office that you preside over. The term Minister has been desecrated by the people who are expected to serve the country. Henceforth, I will refer to your office as the Chief Servant of India, for that is what the office should entail. In your case, I am sorry to say you are the Chief Subservient Servant of India.

Regretfully Yours,

Levy Annual Taxes on Diesel Cars and SUVs

Dear Manmohanji,

Jairam Ramesh had the right sentiment about SUVs, but chose the wrong words. Diesel Cars and SUVs benefit from lower taxes on Diesel and thus enjoy a subsidy. To negate this, an annual tax should be levied on Diesel Cars and SUVs. Trucks, Cargo Vans and Vans configured to carry twelve or more passengers should be exempt. People should be allowed to enjoy their vehicles by paying for that privilege.

The Opportunity for Strong Lokpal Bill is ALIVE

Dear Prime Minister,

The Lokpal Bill not being voted on in the RS means that the opportunity for a strong Lokpal is ALIVE.

The key issue is to insulate the CBI from political, bureaucratic and other influences. At the same time its investigation should be confined to corruption, inappropriate use of power and criminal acts. Issues regarding personal behaviour should be off-limits.

Wish you a Happy New Year

Regards,

A Strong Lokpal Bill

Dear Manmohanji,

We need a strong anti-corruption bill with an investigating and prosecuting arm that cannot be influenced by politicians, fellow bureaucrats and vested interested parties. Stiff punishment should be meted out swiftly. We are relying on you to make this happen. May you have the power and influence to put India on the right track.

Seasons Greetings,
